Over $6,500 to Local Businesses for Teacher Appreciation Week
MADISON, IN - May 4-8, 2020 marked Teacher Appreciation Week throughout the country. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our teachers have pivoted to 100% online curriculum overnight. Teachers deserve our thanks, and local parent-teacher organizations have expressed their gratitude in digital gifts, redeemable at local businesses.
“This infusion of funds to our businesses is critical right now. It’s important to keep spending local to support businesses, jobs, and our local economy in general. The purchase of these gifts to thank teachers is a win-win. We love to see the community coming together in this way,” says Lindsay Bloos, Executive Director.
The Madison Area Chamber of Commerce launched the new “Chamber CA$H” digital gift card earlier this year to make it easy and fun to keep local spending right here with our local merchants. Any business can sign up to accept the Chamber CA$H cards (regardless of membership) through the end of this year.
“We are thrilled to participate in this innovative program. It was simple to run our ‘activation card,’ and we’re ready to welcome new customers into our store. Thanks, Chamber!” said Victoria Perry, Wonderfully Made Collections.
Anyone can purchase the Chamber CA$H eGift Card at https://www.madisonindiana.com or save by paying with cash or check through the Chamber office. Purchasers can write a personal message, and send it to family, friends, or colleagues via email, text, social media, or even printed for a personal touch. Bulk orders are available as well, and the Chamber encourages businesses to consider purchasing them as employee gifts. Recipients can choose to spend it at a growing list of participating merchants in the Madison area.Chamber CA$H replaces Good Cents Gift Certificates, which was a paper check program successfully administered by the Chamber for over 15 years. Chamber CA$H is a more modern, portable, and accountable system than the Good Cents Gift Certificate check program.
“For years, the Good Cents Gift Certificate program has been extremely successful (bringing in approximately $100,000 for local businesses each year), but outdated technology and other logistical issues made it impossible to continue long-term. Chamber CA$H solves the challenges of our old system, and has more perks for our local businesses. Now, you can purchase digital gift cards, which can be used in print, through your email, or even through text message. Recipients will get reminders to use the gifts, and we can even reissue them if they are lost (as long as they are linked to the person’s email or phone number),” says Lindsay Bloos, Executive Director.
“The Madison Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all of our area teachers and school staff for their dedication to students year-round and we’d like to thank all of our area businesses for their hard work and determination to keep going through this unprecedented time.”
