The Ohio River Valley Folk Society, originally created to support the music festival that became
RiverRoots, is relaunching itself as the Kindred Folk Society.

“RiverRoots was originally the Ohio River Valley Folk Festival. With the announcement that the annual
event was to undergo a change in format, our board wrestled with the decision whether or not to
continue. Ultimately, we decided to move ahead with a renewed sense of purpose,” explains board
president, Jim Bartlett. “For the last five years, we have produced a winter music series bearing the
RiverRoots name. We decided to rebrand the series, and our organization, and will continue to bring
nationally-touring, Americana musical acts to Madison.”

In addition to the music series, the Kindred Folk Society has provided free children’s programming, a
movie series, as well as financial support for events like the inaugural Mad Hop Music Festival. With the
relaunch, the organization hopes to broaden its footprint by increasing and diversifying cultural offerings
in and around Jefferson County, Indiana.
