COMMUNITY FOUNDATION ACCEPTING FLOOD RELIEF DONATIONS
Monetary donations accepted for distribution to local service agencies
Madison, IN– In response to the recent flooding affecting Jefferson County residents, the Community
Foundation of Madison and Jefferson County is accepting monetary donations for local flood relief
efforts. According to local officials, an estimated 125 homes in Jefferson County were impacted by
flooding at the end of February. Local nonprofit organizations, churches, government officials and
national faith-based organizations are working to assist those affected.
“While state and federal aid is available for some of the related costs of clean up and recovery, the
biggest expense for our residents will be long-term recovery from the disaster which could take several
months or longer,” stated Bill Barnes, Community Foundation President and CEO. “Of the money
collected, 100% will be distributed by the Community Foundation to nonprofit organizations assisting
the families whose lives have been disrupted by the flood.”
Donations can be made online, by mail, or in person. When writing a check, please indicate “FLOOD” in
the memo line. When donating online, please type “FLOOD” in the “Fund you are donating to” field.
Online donations can be made at https://www.cfmjc.org/give_now.php. Donations may be mailed to
P.O. Box 306, Madison, IN 47250, or may be dropped off Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm at 416 West
Street, Madison, IN 47250.
