  • Canaan Community Academy Medal Sweep

VFW post 1969 sponsors an annual essay contest. This year the theme was “My Pledge to Veterans”. Canaan Community Academy students in grades 6, 7, & 8 wrote essays. Seven students were selected as the school wide winners. The school wide winners were; Ethan Strasemeier, Kash Duncan, Isabel Shepherd, Silas Eaton, Ira Eaton, Phoenix Vest, and Leighton Moore.

The schoolwide winners shared their essay, “My Pledge to Our Veterans” with the Veterans in attendance during the Canaan Community Academy Veteran’s Day program. Not only did the students write winning essays they were able to communicate their Pledge to the Veterans; each provided a heartfelt message. The winning essays were submitted to VFW post 1969.
