  • Don't let his Southern accent fool you, Matt is from Newark, Ohio. He studied urban geography and city & regional planning at The Ohio State University.

Matt came to Southern Indiana in 2000 to work as the Economic Development Director for Scott County. Then, he worked as a Senior Business Development Manager for a civil engineering company for 14 years! In 2012, Matt was selected as one of the "Leaders to Watch" at the company. Since January of this year, Matt has settled his sights on improving the Jefferson County area as the Executive Director of Jefferson County Industrial Development Corporation (JCIDC)

Matt's goal as the director of JCIDC is to help improve the overall quality of life in Madison and Jefferson County. He wants to have good amenities in the area and many employers with good wages, so that young couples want to work and raise a family in Jefferson County. Matt also wants to be prepared for the economic growth that will take place due to the East End Bridge crossing to Louisville.

He enjoys his job and working within the community, because everyone is so welcoming and accommodating.

During his leisure time, Matt enjoys relaxing outdoors, watching college football, and taking on projects around his house. He has been married to Sheri for 29 years; together, they raise three cats and two dogs. In the mornings, Matt takes care of the animals, gets ready, and has many cups of coffee before he hits the ground running at the office. If you see Matt around town, buy him a coffee. He takes it strong with flavored cream.
